Some 5,700 Prince William County teachers are “Back to School.”
About 700 enthusiastic new teachers joined 5000 veteran colleagues reporting to their schools today, Aug. 24, ready to inspire students to discover their potential and open doors of opportunity.
In a press release, Darlene Faltz, supervisor of recruiting and special programs, for PWCS was quoted as saying, “We have an outstanding, World-Class group of new teachers, and we are hiring every day. We will be ready on opening day.”
There are still teaching jobs available in Prince William County. About 50 hard-to-fill spots remain to be filled in ESOL, math, science, technology education, and special education, the news release stated.
Teachers will spend this week meeting with colleagues, arranging classrooms, assembling instructional materials, and going over lessons plans. A portion of the time will be spent in professional development; planning with mentors; and attending sessions on practices and procedures, vision and mission, and schoolwide expectations.
School opens for students next Monday, Aug. 31.
