The Manassas Museum offers free admission to active duty military personnel and their families this summer, continuing its association with the Blue Star Initiative.
Blue Star Museums is a partnership among Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts, and museums nationwide to offer free admission to military personnel and their families through Labor Day, Sept. 5.
The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard), National Guard and Reserve members and up to five immediate family members.
The Manassas Museum, 9101 Prince William Street in Manassas, houses permanent and temporary exhibits interpreting Northern Virginia Piedmont history through artifacts, documents, video, and images. A new exhibit, An American Turning Point: The Civil War in Virginia, opens July 16. Many special Sesquicentennial programs are scheduled throughout Manassas from July 21-24.
