VDOT to update public on VA Rte. 28 Safety & Operations Study at July 22 meeting

The public is invited to stop by Manassas Park Community Center July 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m. to find out about short term recommendations to improve traffic on VA Rte. 28 between Liberia Avenue in Manassas and south of I-66 in Centreville.

The VDOT study analyzed traffic data to pinpoint locations for low cost improvements and short term recommendations for easing traffic woes along the busy corridor. The governments of Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax and Prince William were also involved in the study.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) staff will be at the community center, 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park, to talk with the public, explain the displays and answer questions. A short presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Interested residents can also review the project information at http://www.virginiadot.org or during business hours at VDOT’s Northern Virginia office at 4975 Alliance Drive in Fairfax. Those who want to visit the VDOT office are asked to call ahead at 703-259-2381 or 800-367-7623 or TTY/TDD 711. Calling ahead will ensure appropriate VDOT staff is available to answer your questions, according to a public notice of the meeting.

VDOT wants feedback from the public by Aug. 14. At the July 22 meeting, residents can write down their comments on comment cards. Or they can email comments to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or mail to Mr. Tom Fahrney, Project Manager, at VDOT’s Northern Virginia office at 4975 Alliance Drive in Fairfax. Emailed or mailed comments should reference “Route 28 Corridor Study.”

VDOT will also hold a Monday, July 20 meeting on the same topic at Centreville Elementary School, 14330 Green Trails Blvd., Centreville, also 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a brief presentation at 7 p.m.
