Dive in to SplashDown

It’s a summer tradition for families in our area. And with high gas prices and a tight economy, SplashDown Waterpark in Manassas is looking more attractive than ever for people hoping to find a hot deal while staying cool in the coming months.
“It’s really top notch,” said Bruce Butler of the 13-acre facility near his Manassas home. “The size is just right. It’s not too big, not too little. It has a clean atmosphere, it’s very family friendly and has plenty of tables, chairs and shaded areas to eat and relax.”
On a recent Saturday, Butler brought his wife, Denise, and their daughter, Sydney, for her 12-year-old birthday party to the water park at 7500 Ben Lomond Park Dr. Their group also included about a dozen of Sydney’s friends, swimming and enjoying pizza and cake under a pavilion.
SplashDown Waterpark, managed by the Prince William County Park Authority, was built in 1996 but originally opened decades ago as a community pool. Now, it features a lazy river, a lap pool, an activity pool, two cannon ball slides, four-story waterslides, a lily pad and log walk and Big Kahuna beach with hundreds of tons of sand.
