Home Invasion / Abduction ARREST
On June 14, police made an arrest in the below home invasion investigation reported on June 2. The investigation revealed that the accused was one of the two men that entered the residence and he was the one who held the five occupants inside an upstairs room, at gunpoint, while the residence was searched. The investigation continues into the identity of the other two men involved. Arrested: Darryl Edward Jones, 29, of 15286 Barnabas Trail in Woodbridge. Charged with five counts of abduction, one count of entering a dwelling to commit robbery, one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Court date set for July 26, 2011, held without bond
Home Invasion / Abduction (Previously Released)
On June 2 at 9:09 p.m., police responded to the 14600 block of Endsley Turn in Woodbridge for a home invasion. The male victim, 24, reported to police two unknown masked men entered the residence by forcing open a door while a third man remained outside. Once inside, the two men, with one displaying a handgun, forced the man and four children, between the ages of 4 weeks and 11 years, into an upstairs bedroom while they searched the house looking for a man who reportedly did not live there. Once the house was searched, all three men fled the area. One or two of the men left the area in vehicle while the other fled on foot. No injuries were reported. A cell phone was reported missing.

Gableridge Turn – Possibly Related Incidents
On June 16 at 12:55 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., police responded to two separate incidents in the 1800 block of Gableridge Turn, which are possibly related. See individual releases below.
Attempted Rape
On June 16 at 6:45 a.m., police responded to the 1800 block of Gableridge Turn, the Summerland Heights Apartments, in Woodbridge for an assault. The female victim, 38, reported to police she woke up around 6:30 a.m. and observed an unknown man inside of her bedroom. The unknown man was holding a kitchen knife and ordered the victim to remove her clothing. The victim reported that the man inappropriately touched her before leaving the residence. Entry into the residence appeared to have been gained through an unlocked window. Prince William Police K-9 was utilized but the man was not located. Lookout: Black male, medium complexion, in his 20s, 5’8” to 5’09” 180 lbs., thin build, possibly had a mustache. Last seen wearing a tan ski-style mask, black zip-up jacket, dark pants and tan construction style gloves

Burglary
On June 16 at 12:55 a.m., police responded to the 1800 block of Gableridge Turn, the Summerland Heights Apartments, in Woodbridge for a burglary in progress. Occupants of the residence, a woman, 24, and a man, 26, reported to police they were asleep in their bedroom when they heard their dog barking. Upon investigating the commotion, an unknown man was seen in the living room. Once noticed by the homeowner, the unknown man fled out of a window. Entry appeared to have been made through an unlocked window. Prince William Police K-9 and the Fairfax Police helicopter were utilized but the man was not located. No injuries were reported and no items were reported missing. Lookout:  Black male, between 25 and 30, 6’0” 250 lbs., heavy build. Last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans and black skull cap.

ARRESTS
Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer
On June 8 at 12:26 a.m., police conducted a vehicle stop in the 12600 block of Dara Dr. in Woodbridge. As the vehicle stopped, the driver, the accused and only occupant, immediately exited her vehicle and approached the officer in an aggressive manner. Several requests to have her return to her vehicle were ignored. The accused pushed and swung at police. The accused resisted as officers were attempting to place her in custody. After a brief struggle, the accused was placed in handcuffs. No injuries were reported. Arrested: Michelle Renee Merritt, 35, of 8180 Peakwood Ct. in Manassas. Charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officers and obstruction of justice. Court date and bond information unavailable.

OTHER INCIDENT REPORTS
Burglary
On June 15 at 11:45 a.m., police responded to the 14300 block of Bakerwood Place in Haymarket for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police the burglary occurred between 12:01 a.m. June 13 and 11:30 a.m. on June 14. Entry appeared to have been made into an attached garage in which the door had been left opened and then into an unlocked vehicle parked inside the garage. A wallet and baseball style hats valued around $420 were reported missing, in additional to U.S. currency.
Burglary
On June 14 at 11:45 a.m., police responded to the 6500 block of Davis Ford Road in Manassas for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police the burglary occurred between 2 p.m. on June 12 and 10 a.m. on June 14. Entry appeared to have been gained through a rear screen door. There were no signs of forced entry. A house key was reported missing.

Attempted Burglary
On June 14 at 9 a.m., police responded to the 14400 block of Dunwoody Ct. in Gainesville for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police sometime between 5 p.m. on June 12 and 5 p.m. on June 15, an unknown person(s) attempted to enter the residence through rear screen door that had been forced opened. No entry is believed to have been gained into the residence and no items were reported missing.
