On Monday, Jan. 26 at approximately 2 a.m. fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire located in the 14000 block of Fitzwater Drive in Nokesville.
The family was alerted to the fire by their dog who repeatedly signaled to go outside. As the owner approached the door, he observed the garage engulfed in flames and immediately called 911.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue crews discovered a detached garage fully involved. Firefighters proceeded to attack and extinguish the fire with no extension to the home or adjacent buildings. No injuries reported.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the contents of the garage which housed numerous items including a vehicle and equipment, was a total loss estimated at approximately $150,000 in damages.
The origin of the fire was the garage; the cause is undetermined. The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
