Get help with Financial Aid Form (FAF) for college at Feb. 7 Super Saturday workshops

Experts who can take the mystery and confusion out of the financial aid process will be at Stonewall Jackson High School Feb. 7 when Stonewall and the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA) will host Super Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The school is located at 8820 Rixlew Lane, Manassas, VA.

Super Saturday is an annual service project which provides free one-on-one assistance in completing the federal financial aid form for postsecondary education, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the form used by colleges, universities, and career-technical schools across the country to determine eligibility for student federal financial aid.

There will be two financial aid workshops, at 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., explaining the federal and state financial aid process. Computers will be available for students and parents to apply for federal aid electronically, with the help of volunteer financial aid experts.

Students should bring the following documents to the event: PIN number, social security number, driver’s license, 2014 W-2 forms, 2014 federal income tax return (or most recent estimate), list of untaxed income, current bank and investment records, and alien registration or permanent resident card if applicable. Students and their parents are advised to request their PINs (Personal Identification Number) electronically at http://www.pin.ed.gov Paren.ts should get their own PIN in addition to the student’s.
