On Monday, September 29th at approximately 9:30 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family home located in the 10100 block of Lomond Drive in Manassas.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue units were informed that all occupants had safely evacuated the home.
Firefighters observed smoke showing from the roof and discovered fire in the attic. They proceeded to attack and extinguish the fire while searching for further extension. No further extension was found.
One occupant was transported to the local hospital for possible smoke inhalation. No further injuries were reported.
Red Cross was called to the scene to assist 7 adults displaced by the fire.
A Building Inspector was on scene and posted the structure unsafe.
The origin of the fire was the attic; the cause is undetermined. The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
