New US forever postage stamps celebrate farmers’ markets

The U.S. Postal Service has issued four colorful stamps saluting America’s farmers’ markets.

The new limited-edition Farmers Markets Forever stamps depict a table laden with products found at many U.S. farmers’ markets: vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, eggs, baked goods and artisan cheeses. They were designed by Virginia artist Greg Breeding of Charlottesville.

“For years the Postal Service has celebrated—through the power of stamps—America’s agricultural abundance,”Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe was quoted as saying in a press release from the Virginia Farm Bureau. “Postage stamps have depicted fruit, flowers, corn and a bread wagon.”
