Word Alive Church’s annual Youth Summer Jam 2014 set for Aug. 9

On Saturday, Aug.9,  the youth ministry of Word Alive Church International will present “Youth Summer Jam 2014” at Barron Park, 7500 Ashton Ave., in the Coverstone community of Manassas, and young residents are invited to register now. This is the sixth year for the event. Ministers Dorion and Leah Baker are the youth pastors, and Leah Baker is the event’s coordinator.

The “Jam” is for ages 5-17 and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Residents are invited to join members of the church’s youth ministry for an exciting, fun-filled day of music, food, fun, and summer activities. 

The purpose of “Youth Summer Jam 2014 is to encourage the youth within the community to strive for academic, professional and civic excellence.  The goal is to charge the youth to be leaders in their community, schools, churches and homes. 

Local gospel musical band Youthful Spirits will be the special guest featured musical artists. A representative from Cliff Russell’s Ripped Performance (Ashburn, VA) will be the guest speaker and give the “State of the Student” Address. The address is designed to launch the students in a direction of academic and civic excellence.

Register at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Youths must be registered to receive free school supplies.  In 2013, some 120 students received backpacks filled with school supplies. Summer Jam 2014 organizers say they are expecting 150-200 students this year.
