Two open forums set on proposed boundaries for 12th Prince William high school

Prince William County school officials will hold two public forums, April 30 and May 1, both at 7 p.m., to gather community ideas on the proposed boundaries for the county’s 12th high school.

The community meetings will be structured as a forum where members of the community can provide feedback on the proposed boundary.

The 12th high school attendance area boundary proposal prepared by the Office of Facilities Services, in collaboration with the School Division’s leadership, will be posted to the Facilities Web site in mid- to late-April.

The first meeting will be on Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Brentsville District High School auditorium.

The second forum will be on Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m., at Hylton High School auditorium.

As in all boundary planning processes, staff develops proposed boundary plans that attempt to balance enrollments at the affected schools, consider the demographic balance among schools, attempt to minimize the number of times any particular geographic area is reassigned schools at the affected level within the past several years, attempt to facilitate the efficient transport of students, and attempt to avoid splitting small neighborhoods. Public input complements these parameters.
