Free tax form assistance through AARP aide program starts at library March 1

Bull Run Regional Library at 8051 Ashton Ave., Manassas, VA, will offer free tax help on a first-come-first-served basis for low- to moderate-income taxpayers and seniors through the AARP Tax Aide program on ten days in March beginning this Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.

Tax-Aide volunteers have been trained to assist with preparing the 1040 Form and standard schedules, including Schedules A and B and the Virginia forms, according to a news release from the library.

No appointments will be taken; taxpayers will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis with preliminary screening to identify those requiring special attention. The volunteers will be on duty Saturdays, March 1 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ; Mondays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Thursdays, March 6, 13, and 20 from noon to 8 p.m.

Electronic filing (e-filing) is offered with no charge to the taxpayer. E-filing “ensures more accurate tax returns and faster processing of tax refunds,” according to a news release from the library.
