Arrests made in distribution of child pornography and hit and run cases in city of Manassas

Distribution of Child Pornography – Arrest
Manassas City Police Investigators, in conjunction with the Northern Virginia-District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (NOVA/DC ICAC), concluded an investigation into the distribution of child pornography over the internet yesterday with the arrest of Roberto Martinez Alvarez.

Alvarez, 35, of 104 Polk Dr, Manassas Park, VA was arrested on December 12, 2013 after Investigators discovered through the execution of a search warrant of Alvarez’s residence that he had been using a file-sharing program to obtain and distribute child pornography over the Internet since 2009. 

Alvarez, 35, was charged with nine felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one felony count of Distribution of Child Pornography.  Alvarez was held without bond and has a pending court date of January 13, 2014.

Hit and Run – Arrest
At approximately 11:45PM on December 12, 2013 Manassas City Police responded to “Walgreens” located at 9271 Sudley Rd for a report of an intoxicated driver. 

Upon arrival, Officers conducted a field sobriety test and confirmed the driver’s condition to be intoxicated.

Upon further investigation, Officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle had struck a utility pole on the 9100 block of Centreville Rd before arriving at the Walgreens, causing damage to the pole and two unoccupied vehicles.  Total damage that resulted from the hit and run was estimated at approximately $3,000.00.

Lucio Amando Sosa Dominguez, 43, of 9833 Maury Ln was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, hit and run, destruction of City property, and unreasonable refusal to comply with a sobriety test. 

He was held on a $2,000.00 secured bond and has a pending court date of February 4, 2014.
