Woodbridge VA High School asks media to stay off campus while pursuing story

Woodbridge High School officials are requesting that the media respect their request to stay off the school campus when reporting on the homicide involving Kenny Diaz, a member of the Woodbridge Viking football team.

Prince William County Schools spokesman Irene Cromer said there have been many requests for access to Woodbridge High School to cover the tragic loss over the weekend. “The students and staff especially are going through a difficult and painful time and need privacy to grieve. Thank you for understanding,” she said..

The following statement appears on the Woodbridge High School Web site:

Students and staff of Woodbidge High School are united in sadness at the tragic loss of our friend, teammate and student, Kenny Diaz. He will be missed. But memories of Kenny will sustain us as we work to heal and move forward together.

Prince William County Police issued a request early today for community assistance in developing information to help detectives solve what has been labeled as a homicide.
