Seniors 60 and up can get a free screening to assess their risk for falling. The screenings, on Saturday, April 27 in Manassas and Friday, May 3 in Dale City, are being sponsored by Project Mend-A-House.
Have vision checked by an optometrist, gait and balance evaluated by a physical therapist, medications reviewed by a pharmacist and meet with a nurse who will discuss and explain the results. Pre-registration is required. There is a different number and email address for each location.
The Saturday, April 27 screening will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 9750 Wellington Rd, Manassas. To register, call 703-792-6402 or e-mail

Those who sign up for the screenings may choose to participate in a research project headed by the Virginia Tech Locomotion Research Department to further development of new technology to help prevent falls among older adults.
