PW Committee of 100 to thrash out tax issues

On February 20 at Westminster at Lake Ridge, 12191 Clipper Drive, Woodbridge, in the Multi-Purpose Room, the Prince William Committee of 100 will host a program to discuss the upcoming county budget.

Various members of the Board of County Supervisors have put forth proposals for tax rates which will determine the dollar amount Prince William property owners will pay in real estate tax next year.  Several supervisors favor a flat tax while others want to raise the amount the citizens will pay.

The panel will explore the implications of these proposals on schools, parks, social services, public safety and economically strapped homeowners.

The program is open to the public, at no charge, and will begin at 7:45 p.m. and conclude about 9:15 p.m. A meet and greet begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.  Reservations and payment are required for dinner.  For additional information, go to http://www.pwc100.org.

Tara Slate Donaldson, editor, Gainesville Times, will moderate.

Panelists are to be two Prince William County supervisors, Wally Covington, Brentsville District; and John Jenkins, Neabsco District; Dr. Babur Lateef, former candidate for the County Board Chairman and Jim Riley, columnist for Prince William Today; editor, Virginia Virtucon Blog

The Prince William County Committee of 100 provides a non-partisan, educational forum to study essential interests, problems and goals of the people of Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park.
