ARRESTS
Malicious Wounding – On September 3rd at 9:35PM, police responded to the 8300 block of Irongate Way in Manassas (20109) for a stabbing. The victim, a 33-year-old man of Manassas, reported to police that he and the accused, a known family member, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest. The accused fled the scene prior to police arrival but was located in the area of Coverstone Dr and Notre Dame Ct where he was arrested without further incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Arrested: Cristian Rafael Moral CORTEZ, 18, of the 8300 block of Irongate Way in Manassas. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.
Malicious Wounding – On September 2nd at 9:00PM, police responded to the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Rd in Dumfries (22026) for an assault. The victim, a 26-year-old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were on a boat anchored near the shore when a verbal altercation escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim in the face several times with his fists. The victim was helped to shore by other citizens who were nearby at the time. The accused fled the area in his boat but was located by the Prince William County Police Marine Unit and was detained. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Arrested: Edward Leroy MESHYOCK, 54, of 9551 Damascus Dr in Manassas. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date set for September 26, 2012, held WITHOUT bond.
Strangulation – On August 31st at 1:00PM, police responded to the 10500 block of Falkirk Way in Manassas (20109) for an assault. The victim, a 16 year old male of Manassas, reported to police that he and the accused, a known family member, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly strangled the victim causing bruising, swelling and minor lacerations to his neck. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested. The victim‘s injuries were non-life threatening. Arrested: Norman Vincent FORD, 54, of the 10500 block of Falkirk Way in Manassas. Charged with strangulation. Court date and bond information unavailable.
Felony Child Neglect – On September 3rd at 1:30AM, police responded to the area of Periscope Pl and Hour Glass Dr in Dumfries (22026) for a possible crash. Officers arrived on scene and located an abandoned car, still running, in the middle of the road on Hour Glass Dr. No crash had taken place, however, an 8-month-old girl was found strapped into a child’s seat in the back seat of the vehicle. There was no driver with the vehicle and witnesses reported seeing a male running from the area. Through the investigation, officers were able to identify the driver of the vehicle as the accused, who is a family member of the victim. The accused was located at an address on Hour Glass Dr and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested. The child was not injured and released to family members. Arrested: Nana Kwabena AKOANOR II, 48, of the 14500 Piccolo Ln in Woodbridge. Charged with felony child neglect and driving under the influence. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond.
Narcotics Investigation – On September 3rd, detectives from the Prince William County Street Crimes Unit, Fairfax County Police and the Virginia State Police concluded a narcotics investigation into the distribution of cocaine with the following arrests. During the investigation, an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was recovered. The following arrests were also made without incident. Arrested: Jervay Ervin JONES, 24, of 3015 Berwyn St in Richmond. Charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic [cocaine] – 3rd of subsequent offense and conspiracy to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic [cocaine]. Court date set for December 7, 2012, held WITHOUT bond. Dominique Jamar JONES, 26, of 234 N Kalmia Ave in Richmond. Charged with conspiracy to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic [cocaine]. Court date set for December 7, 2012, released on personal recognizance.
INCIDENTS
Attempted Armed Robbery – On September 3rd at 10:03PM, police responded to the Kmart located at 2851 Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) for a robbery. Employees reported to police that 2 unknown men entered the store and approached the customer services cashier. One of the men displayed a firearm and demanded money from the register. The employee refused and both men left the store without further incident. No injuries were reported. Lookout: 2 black males, both reported to be between 25 & 30 years of age—First male was around 6’1”, medium build with short black hair and brown eyes. Last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, tan hat and black sunglasses. Second male [armed with handgun] was around 5’8”, medium build with short black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. Last seen wearing a black t-shirt, tan shorts, blue & gray plaid hat.
Burglary to House Boat – On September 3rd at 4:07AM, police responded to the 500 block of Harbor Side St in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary in progress. Boat owners reported to police that they were asleep on the boat when they heard noises coming from an upper deck. Upon checking out the noise, the owners saw the suspects running off of the boat. No items were reported missing. Lookout: 2 white males, both reported to be between 16 & 20 years of age—One male was described as being around 5’8” / 150lbs, with short brown hair. Last seen wearing a light colored shirt and tan cargo pants. No further description for the second suspect.
Residential Burglary – On September 2nd at 3:30PM, police responded to the 7700 block of Shallow Creek Lp in Manassas (20109) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 1:00PM on September 1st and 1:00PM on September 2nd. Entry appeared to have been made through garage door which had been forced open. Tools, valued around $400, were reported missing.
Residential Burglary – On September 2nd at 12:40PM, police responded to the 5000 block of Burnside Farm Pl in Haymarket (20169) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 1:30AM and 11:00AM. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made into an attached garage through an open door. No items were reported missing, however, items inside the garage had been tampered with.
