On Friday August 10, 2012, Orlando J. Matsumoto, 23, of Nokesville plead guilty in Prince William County General District Court to one misdemeanor count of violating Virginia Code section 18.2-174.1 Impersonating Certain Public Safety Personnel.
In the early morning hours of Saturday June 30, 2012 Motsumoto entered the 7-11 store at the corner of Grant Avenue and Church Street, displayed a badge that he failed to return to the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company after he was no longer a member, told the clerk that he was a fire marshal, and demanded to use the restroom.
Again on Saturday July 7, 2012 at 2:05AM Motsumoto displayed a badge and told the clerk that he was a fire marshal.
On both occasions, when the clerk told him that there was no public restroom available, Matsumoto stated that he was going to conduct an inspection and close the store.
Fire Marshals from the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department arrested Motsumoto on July 13, 2012, and charged him with two counts of impersonating a Fire Marshal.
Motsumoto was sentenced to thirty days in jail and fined $200 plus court costs. The jail time was suspended and the second charge was dropped, according to Fire Marshal Francis J. Teevan.
