On Friday, Nov. 22, the American Red Cross will mark the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art blood donation center in Manassas. This new facility will collect thousands of blood products each year from generous donors who roll up a sleeve to help save lives.
The new Manassas location is at 10360 Portsmouth Road, Manassas, VA 20109 (in the ALDI plaza).
It will become on of the 200+ American Red Cross fixed-site blood donor centers across the U.S. The 4,397 square-foot facility has 14 donor beds and will specialize in the collection of whole blood and platelets.
Platelets, tiny cells in the blood that form clots and stop bleeding, are most often used by cancer patients and others facing life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
Expected to attend are:
• Juan Garcia, executive director, Red Cross of Northern Virginia
• Nadine McCrindle, interim CEO, Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region
• Various blood and platelet donors and Red Cross blood collections staff
• Red Cross board members and community partners
