Each week Rep. Abigail Spanbarger reports on her activities in the US House of Representatives:
On Oct. 12 she reported, “This week, I urged Speaker Johnson to call Congress back to Capitol Hill to secure the funding necessary to support communities in Virginia and across the Southeastern United States in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
“I also backed an effort to help increase the local housing supply and make buying or renting a home more affordable for Virginians and penned an op-ed urging my colleagues to vote to pass my bipartisan legislation to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO) when it is brought to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.
“Also this week, I met with United States Postal Service (USPS) Postmaster General DeJoy to get answers on USPS election mail readiness and was recognized by Bridge Pledge as the most collaborative Member of Congress from Virginia — and the third most collaborative lawmaker in the country.
