Medical device firm to expand operations in Norfolk; 60 new jobs to be added

Gov.  Glenn Youngkin has announced that Currie Medical Inc., a leading provider and innovator in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of medical equipment and devices used for patient care in hospitals across the United States and medical device reprocessing, will invest $1.2 million to expand its operations in the City of Norfolk. The company will lease a 30,000 square-foot facility to house its medical device reprocessing operation and distribution center, creating 60 new jobs.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the City of Norfolk and the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance to secure the project for Virginia and will support Currie Medical’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs to support employee recruitment and training activities. As a business incentive supporting economic development, Virginia’s jobs investment program reduces the human resource costs of new and expanding companies. VJIP is state funded, demonstrating Virginia’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities for citizens, according to the news release from the Governor’s Office.

The company is also eligible to receive state benefits from The Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Zone Grant Program.
