Open Space Arts to have role at PWC safety open house May 11

Open Space Arts (OSA), in collaboration with Prince William County’s Office of Community Safety (OCS), is inviting all community members to join them at the upcoming Community Safety Open House event.

This unique event will take place at the A.J. Ferlazzo building from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. The open house will showcase essential resources in the community safety ecosystem. Topics may include, but are not limited to: health, housing, workforce and job training, youth services, food security, recreation, art, education, the environment, and legal support.

At the heart of the event is an interactive art project - a community tapestry that a press release says “will serve as a visual representation of the community’s collective thoughts and feelings on safety. “

Participants will have the chance to paint their own 12x12 canvases, which OSA will curate into a tapestry that will be unveiled and displayed widely across Prince William County. Eventually, this artwork will be briefly exhibited at the Open Space Arts Gallery for contributors and the general public to see.

Open Space Arts encourages all community members, artists, and supporters to attend this event and contribute their voices and artistic expressions to this important dialogue on community safety. Active and widespread participation will not only foster open dialogue on the topic of community safety, but also help demonstrate the power of the arts to effect positive change.

OSA looks forward to welcoming all on Saturday, May 11th, and eagerly anticipates the collaborative artwork that will emerge from this event.
