York River State Park reopens boat ramp with floating dock and sidewalk

York River State Park, off I-64 near Williamsburg, has reopened the Croaker Landing Boat Ramp with improvements.

York River State Park Manager Charlie Whalen said,. “This ramp now includes a floating dock with a sidewalk, which allows the area to be more accessible.”

The project also included replacing all dock structures and dredging the area. The docks are made of composite materials and provide ADA accessibility to guests.

“Guests have had an issue with getting in and out of the ramp area, so I am glad we were able to fix the problem in a timely manner,” said Whalen. “We are now ready to welcome back guests to enjoy the upgraded area when they come out to fish, paddle and enjoy water activities at York River.”

York River State Park, located in Williamsburg right off interstate 64, offers programs, activities and visitor center displays that focus on the history, wildlife and preservation of the York River and its marshes. The park is known for its rare and delicate estuarine environment, where freshwater and saltwater meet to create a rich habitat for marine and plant life.

The park is on the York River and is designated as a Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
