Eastbound I-66 will have single-lane closures at the Rosslyn Tunnel, weather permitting, tonight—between 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 and 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 27—to implement a traffic shift, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
During that time, the eastbound I-66 lanes through the Rosslyn Tunnel will be shifted to the left as part of the tunnel rehabilitation project. This shift is scheduled to be in place until spring 2025.
The Rosslyn Tunnel rehabilitation project includes:
• Removing the existing tunnel ceiling to improve long-term maintenance
• Upgrading electrical systems
• Installing a new fireproofing system
• Repairing steel beams, abutment and pier concrete, and joints
• Cleaning and repairing bearings
• Replacing the tunnel lighting system
The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.
Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling in active work zones. Be alert to new traffic patterns and limit distractions.
