I-66 westbound lanes to close in Rosslyn at 10 p.m. March 12

ROSSLYN – Westbound I-66 will have single-lane closures from the Route 29 off-ramp (Exit 73: Rosslyn/Key Bridge) to just beyond the Rosslyn Tunnel, weather permitting, between 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 to implement a traffic shift, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

During that time, the westbound I-66 lanes through the Rosslyn Tunnel will be shifted to the left as part of the tunnel rehabilitation project. This shift is scheduled to be in place until spring 2025.

The Rosslyn Tunnel rehabilitation project includes:

Removing the existing tunnel ceiling to improve long-term maintenance
Upgrading electrical systems
Installing a new fireproofing system
Repairing steel beams, abutment and pier concrete, and joints
Cleaning and repairing bearings
Replacing the tunnel lighting system

The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.

Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling in active work zones. Be alert to new traffic patterns and limit distractions.
