PWC Crime Report for Friday, Feb. 9, 2024: Attempted robbery at Woodbridge grocery

ARRESTS
• Attempted Robbery –
On Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 at 9:19AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Aldi grocery store located at 13291 Gordon Blvd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted robbery.
The investigation revealed an unknown man, later identified as the accused, approached the service counter to make a purchase where he implied he had a weapon and demanded money from the register.
The store employee activated an alarm, and the accused fled the store. Responding officers located the accused a short distance away where they took him into custody without incident. No property was reported missing.
Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Shan Ahmed RAJA, was arrested.

ª Strong-Arm Robbery | Residential Burglary – On Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 Prince William County Police officers concluded an investigation into a robbery that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 10200 block of Yuma Ct. in Manassas (20109) on the morning of Jan. 5, 2024.
The investigation revealed the victim, a 16-year-old female juvenile, was attempting to enter the home through an open window when an acquaintance, identified as the accused, also began trying to enter the home. When the victim prevented the accused from entering, the accused pushed the victim, causing her to fall to the ground.
The accused then reached into the home through the window and took the victim’s phone before fleeing. The victim reported minor injuries.
Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Nicholas Puente MASON. Initial attempts to locate the accused were unsuccessful. On February 8, the accused was located and arrested in Manassas.

ª Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Feb. 8, 2024 at 3:44PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Somerset Point Apartments located in the 14700 block of Soapstone Dr. in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a noise violation. While investigating the incident, officers identified the man involved in the noise violation and determined he was also wanted on active arrest warrants. When officers located the man, identified as the accused, he attempted to flee and actively resisted as officers took him into custody.
During the encounter the accused struck an officer. The officer was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Joshua Chidi KING, was arrested.

Charged with assault & battery on LEO and obstruction of justice
