ª Strangulation | Domestic Related *ARREST – On January 25, 2024 the suspect Prince William County Police were seeking in connection with the domestic dispute that was reported to have occurred at the Springwoods at Lake Ridge Apartments located in the 12300 block of Midsummer Ln. in Woodbridge (22192) on January 18, was arrested. The accused, Jose Luis BENITEZ Jr., was taken into custody without incident.

Strangulation | Domestic Related [Previously Released] – On January 18 at 10:44PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Springwoods at Lake Ridge Apartments located in the 12300 block of Midsummer Ln. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed the victim, a 36-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim’s neck and threw her against the wall multiple times before the parties separated. A short time later, the accused retrieved a pair of scissors and threatened the victim. The accused fled the residence, and the victim contacted the police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Jose Luis BENITEZ Jr. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.
INCIDENTS
• Fatal Crash Investigation – On Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 1:15AM, Prince William County Police crash investigators responded to Dale Blvd. near Queensdale Dr. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.
The investigation revealed the driver of a 2013 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Dale Blvd. approaching the intersection when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross Dale Blvd. outside of a crosswalk, wearing dark-colored clothing. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured. Investigators determined that speed, alcohol, and drugs are not factors for the driver. The investigation continues.

The deceased pedestrian was identified as Daniel Kent RYDER, 37, of Woodbridge
The driver of the 2013 Toyota Corolla was identified as a 37-year-old man of Woodbridge
• Armed Robbery – On January 29 at 8:57PM, officers responded to the Dollar Tree located at 14610 Lee Hwy. in Gaines- ville (20155) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed an unknown man approached the service counter to make a purchase where he implied a weapon and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers and a police K-9 searched the area for the suspect who was not located. The suspect was last seen wearing a black mask, a blue jacket, black pants and shoes, and black/grey gloves.
• Residential Burglaries – On Monday, January 29, 2024 at 2:29PM, Prince William County Polic officers responded to the 12500 block of Lintons Ford Ln. in Bristow (20136) to investigate multiple burglaries. The investigation revealed sometime between 3:00PM on January 27 and 7:30AM on January 28, five homes under construction were burglarized. Two of the homes were forcefully entered while three of the homes were entered through an unsecured door. Several appliances were reported missing from the homes.
ARRESTS
• Malicious Wounding – On January 26, 2024 at 5:13PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Woodwind Village Apartments located in the 1800 block of Clarinet Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a fight. The investigation revealed the victims, a 15-year-old female juvenile and a 33-year-old woman, were in the above area when they were approached by a group of females. After a brief verbal altercation, the parties began to physically fight. At one point, a woman in the group, identified as the accused, retrieved a wooden bat, and struck the adult victim before the parties were separated. Both victims were treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. While investigating the incident, officers identified the accused and determined there were six female juveniles between 13-17 years old involved. On January 27, following the
investigation, the accused Chiquita Lorraine CHAPMAN, was arrested. Officers will be seeking additional charges for the juvenile suspects involved in the fight.

• Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Monday, January 29 at 4:22PM, officers working an off-duty detail at Walmart located at 8386 Sudley Rd. in Manassas(20109) were notified of an active by store security. When officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted and pushed an officer before fleeing on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the accused was detained without further incident. No injuries were reported by the officer. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jacob Cecil HOWARD, was arrested.

Charged with 1 count of assault & battery on LEO, 2 counts of obstruction of justice, and 1 count of petit larceny
