Prince William County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched this morning, Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 6:19 a.m. to a restaurant fire at the Chick-fil-A in the 9900 block of Sowder Village Square, Manassas, off Rt. 28 near Manassas Airport, for a report of the building on fire, according to Matt Smolsky, Assistant Fire Chief-Fire Marshal.
Crews arrived with fire showing from the rear of the structure, according to a news release. The building sustained moderate damage. No injuries were reported. Smolsky said the Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was ignited when oncoming staff turned on a heater in the trash room not realizing there were combustible materials near the electric heater. The operating status of the restaurant is currently unknown, Smolsky said.
