OmniRide will hold an Extended Season of Giving Food Drive next week: Tuesday-Friday Jan. 16-19 to be a good partner in service to the community. The food drive is intended to help replenish shelves at local food pantries: at ACTS on the east end of the county in Dumfries, and at SERVE is in Manassas.
Besides accepting non-perishable donations on the buses, OmniRide will accept non-perishables in-person at four local government locations, and monetary donations online at the OmniRide website.
Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 16, donation boxes will be at: Woodbridge: James J. McCoart Administration Building - 1 County Complex Ct. and Ferlazzo Building - 15941 Donald Curtis Drive; Manassas: City of Manassas Customer Service Center - 9800 Godwin Drive; and Manassas Park: City Hall - 100 Park Central Plaza .

“At OmniRide we understand that not only is reliable transit vital to our community, but so is food security. Many food banks receive donations over holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but donations begin to fall back after that time. Unfortunately, food insecurity does not,” said Bob Schneider, OmniRide Executive Director .
Besides food assistance, ACTS offers utility assistance, programs to address domestic and sexual abuse, suicide prevention, and more. SERVE provides food, shelter, utility assistance, services in foster care and adoption, health and dental services, mental health services, and more.
“There are certain services that are vital to the health and growth of a community – reliable transportation being one of them. However, at OmniRide we realize we are not just a transportation company doing business in the area. Many of our employees live and play here and as part of this community, it’s our responsibility to be part of the solution for the area’s problems – from transportation, to helping ensure food security, to economic development, environmental sustainability and education, and more. We look forward to working with SERVE and ACTS to serve the Prince William County community.”
