PWC Crime Report for Jan. 5, 2024: Police charge man with attempted assault with caustic substance

Prince William County Police issued the following arrest report for Friday, Jan. 5, 2024:
ARRESTS
• Attempted Assault with a Caustic Substance – On January 4 at 1:00PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 16200 block of Taconic Cl. in Dumfries (22025) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed the victim, a 64-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused shook a can of cleaning powder towards the victim, which got on the victim’s clothing. The parties separated and the accused left the residence prior to police arriving on scene. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant for the accused, identified as Mohamed KOROMA, who was taken into custody later that evening.
