The REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) recently held a successful coat drive to benefit the Prince William County Head Start Preschool Program.
The Association, comprised of real estate professionals dedicated to giving back to their community, collected a record number of coats to help keep children warm during the winter season.
Recognizing the importance of supporting the local community, PWAR decided to organize a coat drive specifically for the Head Start program. They reached out to their members, as well as the wider community, to donate new coats suitable for children aged 4-6 years old, and larger sizes suitable for students’ siblings.
After months of collecting coats, PWAR’s Community Outreach Small Group tallied a total of 120 coats. These coats were then distributed to the Preschool Program, ensuring that every child in need would have a warm coat to wear during the winter months.
“The impact of this coat drive goes beyond providing warmth. It sends a powerful message to the children and their families that their community cares for them and is committed to their well-being. It also highlights the importance of collaboration and collective action in addressing social issues.” said Beth Grant, PWAR President
PWAR plans to continue its support for the Preschool Program and hopes to expand its initiatives in the future. The organization believes that by working together, REALTORS can make a lasting difference in the lives of the children and families in their community.
This coat drive serves as a shining example of how a small act of kindness can have a significant impact. It not only provides warmth to those in need but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion within the community. PWAR’s dedication to giving back is commendable, and their efforts are sure to inspire others to act and make a difference in their own communities.
“What a success. Thanks to all that signed pledges and provided resources for coats. Our PWC Preschool Program kids will be warm because of the generosity of the REALTORS and Affiliates that contributed.” said Mary Ann Bendinelli, PWAR Community Outreach Chair
