A Prince William County jury found Devlon Crew-Hamilton guilty of one count of second-degree murder and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony nn September 27, 2023.
On March 28, 2024, the Defendant will appear before the Honorable Judge Carroll A. Weimer for sentencing. The members of the victim’s family will present Victim Impact testimony at that time.
The matter was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Kathleen Bilton and Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Sarah Sami.
According to a news release from Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, Prince William County Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at a residence in Dumfries on May 14, 2022. Police located the victim, Miles Tracey Hall, deceased, with an apparent gunshot wound to the face.
Investigation revealed that Mr. Crew-Hamilton had gone to the residence that evening to confront Mr. Hall over missing funds raised for a funeral and childcare for Mr. Hall’s daughter, who Mr. Crew-Hamilton had been dating prior to her recent death. Other family members believed Mr. Hall was keeping the money for himself, rather than using it for its intended purpose. During the confrontation, Mr. Crew-Hamilton produced a firearm and shot Mr. Hall in the face. Mr. Crew-Hamilton later admitted to detectives that he shot the victim

Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth offered the following comment: “In this case, we sought justice for Miles Tracey Hall. Today, the jury has delivered a verdict that speaks to the strength of our legal system and the dedication of those who tirelessly pursued the truth. Justice has been served, and we hope it serves as a reminder that no one is above the law.”
The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney commended the Prince William County Police Department, especially Master Detectives Israel Perla and Daniel Sekely, and Tammie Thomas and Sara Vutiprichar from the Commonwealth Attorney’s Victim Witness Program, for the assistance provided to the victim’s family.
