Witnesses tell police man who attempted to jump on moving train in Manassas fell under it

On August 18, 2023, at 10:54 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to the area of the train crossing on West Street. When officers arrived, they located a 25-year-old male on the train tracks. Rescue was summoned and declared the male deceased. The initial investigation located several witnesses who said that the male subject attempted to jump onto a moving train and fell under it. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Shooting into a Residence
On August 19, 2023, at 2:22 a.m., Manassas City Police responded to the 9100 block of Winterset Drive for a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located a victim of an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. Officers began life-saving measures and summoned rescue personnel. The juvenile victim was transported by rescue with non-life threatening injuries. The initial investigation revealed that at least one shot was fired from outside into the residence.
