Ashworth appointed Special Prosecutor in Warren County

Amy Ashworth, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, obtained indictments May 8, 2023, when a a Warren County Grand Jury returned felony assault indictments against a current and former member of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

What was Ashworth doing in Warren County Court? She was appointed as the special prosecutor in April 2022 after John Bell, the elected Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney, John recused himself from the matter. The matter was investigated by the Virginia State Police.

Former Deputy Sheriff Zachary Fadley was indicted on one count of Maliciously Wounding Ralph Ennis, age 77, on April 2, 2022, and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.

Current Deputy Sheriff Tyler Poe was indicted on one count of Unlawfully Wounding Ralph Ennis, age 77,  on April 2, 2022, and faces a maximum of five years in prison if convicted.

The defendants will soon appear in Warren County Circuit Court to be arraigned on the charges and a trial date will be scheduled at that time. Both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
