Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin met today, April 27, 2023, with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida to discuss opportunities for additional trade and foreign investment between Virginia and Japan.
“As Japan maintains its economic stature and strength, Virginia looks forward to continuing a reciprocal trade relationship that benefits both players,” said the governor. “Together we can advance our shared goals and vision for a more productive and prosperous future.”
Youngkin expressed his appreciation for Japan’s partnership and support.
Since 2012, Japanese companies have announced more than $1.7 billion in capital investments in Virginia. Japanese companies employ more than 14,500 people in the Commonwealth, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office.
Governor Youngkin expressed his interest in continued coordination in bilateral trade investments between Virginia and Japan.
