Prince William County Police are reporting that a student, age 14, at Freedom High School in Woodbridge, was arrested March 14, 2023 after being found in possession of two knives on school grounds.
Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds – On March 14 at 12:50PM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Freedom High School located at 15201 Neabsco Mills Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) was notified by school security of a student who was in possession of a weapon on school grounds.
Master Police Officer Rene Carr, public information officer for the police department, said the investigation revealed that a student, identified as the accused, was involved in a physical altercation with two other students when a knife fell out of the bag the accused was wearing. School personnel quickly separated the students and took possession of the knife.
The SRO was notified and detained the accused. While investigating the incident, the SRO determined the accused was in possession of a second knife and neither were displayed or part of any other active threat towards the students or the school. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as a 14-year-old male juvenile, was arrested.
