Thanks to a grant they’ve received, Occoquan’s own Patriot Scuba is offering two free classes and certifications from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) for up to 75 people. These courses are for PADI’s Project AWARE and Coral Reef Conservation certifications. The former involves an introduction to the global AWARE movement for ocean protection, while the latter focuses on learning about the vital ecosystems that coral reefs represent. No water training or experience is necessary, nor need you be a diver (these are dry land courses). Both courses are open to those 8 and older.
Contact Patriot Scuba with questions. If you would like to immediately register for a course you may do so by going to the following link: https://patriotscuba.com/shop/diving/en/view-products/training/courses-no-water-required/
