New Year in Prince William County, Va. begins with string of crimes reported

INCIDENTS
• Attempted Robbery –
On January 4, 2023 at 10:15AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Subway located at 12737 Braemar Village Plz. in Bristow (20136) to investigate an attempted robbery. The investigation revealed a masked man walked into the store and approached the counter where he demanded the money from the registers. The employee did not give the suspect the money and contacted the police. The suspect fled prior to police arriving at the store. No injuries were reported, and no property was reported missing. At no time during the encounter, was a weapon brandished or observed.

• Commercial Burglary – On January 4, 2023 at 1:12PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to Prince William Pediatrics located at 4001 Prince William Pkwy. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed entry was made into the business sometime between 3:00PM on January 3 and 9:30AM on January 4 through the main office door which was found damaged. No property was reported missing.

• Residential Burglary – On January 3, 2023 at 5:25PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 13400 block of Delany Rd. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed entry was made into the home sometime between 6:00PM on December 16, 2022 and 3:00PM on January 3, 2023 through the kitchen window which was found damaged. A video game system, knives, and jewelry were reported missing.

• Residential Burglary – On January 3, 2023 at 4:49PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to The Flats Apartments located in the 2700 block of Neabsco Common Pl. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed entry was made into the apartment sometime between 7:00PM on December 30, 2022 and 2:00PM on January 3, 2023 through the front door which was found damaged. Shoes and a purse were reported missing.

• Residential Burglary – On January 3, 2023 at 9:01AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 15500 block of Blue Lotus Ln. in Haymarket (20169) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed entry was made into the home sometime between 2:30PM on December 30, 2022, and 7:00AM on January 3, 2023 through a side window which was found damaged. A washer and a dryer were reported missing, and several windows were damaged.

ARRESTS
• Abduction –
On January 1, 2023 at 7:38AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Broadstone at River Oaks Apartments located in the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate an abduction. The investigation revealed the victim, a 35-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. The victim was able to briefly separate from the accused before contacting a ride sharing service. As the victim was getting into the vehicle, the accused held onto the vehicle’s door preventing her and the driver from leaving. Officers arrived on scene and detained the accused without incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, Irvin Roel VASQUEZ MARTINES, was arrested.

• Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds – On January 4, 2023 at 7:06PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to Freedom High School located at 15201 Neabsco Mills Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an altercation. The investigation revealed a man, later identified as the accused, went to the school after being informed of an altercation between students. At one point, the accused entered the school while possessing a firearm. Officers located the accused inside the school where he was detained without incident and the firearm was secured. While investigating the incident, officers determined at no point was the firearm brandished or fired on school grounds. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Giovanni Alexander LONDON, was arrested.

• Indecent Exposure – On January 1, 2023 at 6:00PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to Hugo Boss in Potomac Mills located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cl. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an indecent exposure. The investigation revealed a store employee observed an unknown man, later identified as the accused, enter the store while exposing himself. The accused took a jacket and fled the store with the unpaid merchandise after he was confronted by the employee. A short time later, officers attempted to detain the accused after he attempted to flee on foot. No injuries were reported. While investigating the incident, the accused initially provided officers with a false identity. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Moses Davon CHILDS, was arrested.

• Brandishing a Weapon | Road Rage Related – On December 31, 2022 at 3:02PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to Lindendale Rd. near Shetland Ct. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a brandishing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 47-year-old man, was driving on Lindendale Rd. when he observed the driver of another vehicle, later identified as the accused, driving in an unsafe manner. The victim and the accused continued driving where, at one point, the accused brandished a machete-style knife towards the victim who contacted the police. The accused also pulled over and stopped his vehicle. When officers made contact with the accused, multiple knives were observed inside his vehicle. At no point during the encounter was there any physical contact between the victim and the accused. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Kodie Keith LAKE, was arrested.
