Prince William County says it wants “to educate, advocate and dispel myths and stigma around mental illness.” An awareness event is planned for Sunday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when residents are invited to take out their running or walking shoes and join in a county-wide Mental Health Walk during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Walk along grassy, gravel and paved terrain at Locust Shade Park, 4701 Locust Shade Drive, Triangle VA 22172 (off US 1 near Quantico Marine Base). Participants will be directed to walk one of two paths: one rigorous and one easy—with plenty of exits along the way.
At on site tables and booths, visitors can get information about mental health programs that are available to inform and assist those in need in our community.
Music, massages, food trucks, a photo booth and other fun activities will also be part of this awareness event, according to a news release and flyer.
