Spring has sprung in Virginia, and as temperatures rise, so does the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses. The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) encourages horse owners to talk to their veterinarians about vaccinating their horses.

Governor Ralph Northam today, March 27, announced that Zantech IT Services, Inc., a provider of leading-edge technology solutions to federal government and industry, will invest $317,853 to expand its corporate offices in Fairfax County. Virginia successfully competed with Washington D.C., Maryland, and West Virginia for the project, which will create 120 new jobs.

On March 25 at 12:00PM, officers responded to the 10000 block of Turning Grass Way in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a fight in progress. The officers separated the two parties without further incident.

Starting April 1, a VDOT contractor will begin a traffic counting project in the Occoquan area, according to Earnie Porta, mayor of Occoquan.

Manassas National Battlefield Park is preparing for a second prescribed fire between March 26 and April 5, 2019. These dates may be extended depending upon weather conditions. The planned fire will be in the Deep Cut area of the battlefield, encompassing approximately 40 acres of open fields and brush.

Chief Skinner dedicated his life to Law Enforcement with more than 37 years of service across all levels, from the line officer to the Chief of Police.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 11, 2024 for Betty Thomas Anastasi, 99, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Commonwealth Senior Living of Manassas.
