Between an increase in Virginia's truck registration fees, and diesel and road tax rates to bring them "more in line" with those of the other states in the Interstate 81 corridor and a 2.1 percent increase in the regional motor fuels tax along the I-81 corridor, Gov. Ralph Northam identified funding for the I-81 Corridor Improvement Plan. The funding plan also generates critical revenue for other interstates across the Commonwealth.

Brentsville Supervisor Jeanine Lawson will conduct a Budget Town Hall Meeting on Monday, April 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gainesville Middle School, 8001 Limestone Drive, Gainesville.
The Virginia Board of Game and Inland Fisheries passed the 10-year Virginia Elk Management Plan at its March 21 meeting. The plan covers from 2019 to 2028 and will guide the state game department’s management of a growing elk population.

Chief Barry Barnard of the Prince William County Police Department will host his 14th “Conversation with the Chief” on Thursday, April 4, at Bennett Elementary School, which is located at 8800 Old Dominion Drive in Manassas, The conservation will begin at 7 p.m.
As of Friday, March 29, at 7 a.m., all Novant Health UVA Health System facilities will lift visitor restrictions that were put in place Feb. 8, a news release said.
Senator Mark Warner will host his annual Virginia Service Academy Day on Saturday, April 27th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville. The event will offer students, parents, and school counselors a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies and their admission processes.
Governor Ralph Northam today, March 27, ceremonially signed legislation to improve Virginia’s foster care system. Joined by a bipartisan group of legislators, government officials, and leaders from the business and faith communities, Governor Northam also helped kick off Virginia Fosters, a statewide campaign that empowers Virginians to be the solution for children, families, and workers in the Commonwealth’s child welfare system.
