Police officers who were dispatched to investigate a "domestic" on Saturday night in Woodbridge and on Sunday morning in Bristow charged suspects with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.

A Woodbridge man was charged with shooting into an occupied building and reckless handling of a firearm when, while moving the firearm in his apartment. Police said he discharged a round that struck a neighbor.

On November 3, detectives with the Special Victims Unit began an investigation into a sexual assault that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the Woodbridge (22193) area of Prince William County between March 2016 and March 2017.

On October 25, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit obtained additional information that led to the identity of the suspect sought in connection to the shooting incident that was reported to have occurred in the 12800 block of Island House Lp. in Woodbridge (22192) on October 17.
The National Park Service (NPS) has postponed the previously announced weekend closing of Arlington Memorial Bridge. The closing is now scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18.

In the first economic development announcement for Virginia’s industrial hemp industry. Gov. Ralph Northam announced Oct. 31 that the first commercial industrial hemp fiber processing facility in Virginia will locate in Wythe County. Vitality Farms, LLC, operating as Appalachian Biomass Processing, will invest $894,000, create 13 new jobs, and plans to purchase more than 6,000 tons of Virginia-grown industrial hemp over the next three years, at a value of more than $1 million.
