Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Dec. 28 that 5 Pillar Meats, LLC will create 12 new jobs and invest more than $1.7 million to build a new, multi-species, meat processing facility in the Prince Edward County Business Park in Farmville. The new facility will provide processing services, under USDA inspection, for southside Virginia producers with a focus on beef, lamb, and goats.
In September 2023, the Board of County Supervisors unanimously voted to extend the due date for the vehicle classification of tangible personal property from Oct. 5, 2023, to Jan. 3, 2024,

Leaders of 35 non-profit organizations in Northern Virginia visited Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC) Dec. 8 for a Community Partner Celebration. The event recognized local service groups that are changing lives every day and tackling community disparities. In 2021-23 Sentara has donated $2 million+ to aid these groups in their work.
