The Prince William Committee of 100 and the Prince William-Fauquier League of Women Voters have announced they will sponsor a Candidates Night on Friday, Oct. 21, at Gar-Field High School on Smoketown Road in Woodbridge, starting at 7 p.m. for the 7th District Congressional District seat.
An in-person voter registration drive directed at Latino voters will be held on Saturday, Oct, 15 from noon to 4 p.m. at Todos Neighborhood Market, which is located at 16593 River Ridge Blvd, Woodbridge, VA.
Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for approximately 70 million Americans will increase 8.7 percent in 2023, the Social Security Administration announced today, Oct. 13. On average, Social Security benefits will increase by more than $140 per month starting in January.

Grace Episcopal Church in The Plains has served as a showcase for new works by area artists for 74 years with a one-year interruption in 2020 due to COVID-19. The Piedmont Regional Art Show & Sale annually draws more than 200 works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphics, photography and other media. The works are exhibited in the church hall and may be purchased. Judges evaluate the entries and award prizes.

Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, reports it will host an Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Prince William County Department of Public Works reports it will be closing the county’s Solid Waste facilities on Sundays beginning Nov. 6, 2022. Sunday is the only day of the week that commercial refuse haulers, which bring in most of the disposal tonnage, do not collect residential routes and bring the collected waste to the County Landfill and Balls Ford Road Compost Facility. Closing to the public on Sundays also will give facility employees the opportunity to address deferred work and perform required maintenance and regulatory requirements.
