While seemingly harmless, moving firewood can enable the easy movement of destructive forest and agricultural pests. When firewood is moved from one area to another, the invasive emerald ash borer, spongy moth, Asian longhorned beetle, and spotted lanternfly often “hitchhike” to destroy crops, infect more trees and sometimes even entire forests.

Prince William County police detectives have charged a 24-year-old Woodbridge man in connection to the deaths of four adults that occurred at a home located in the 5200 block of Mansfield Ct in Woodbridge (22193) on October 17. All four decedents and the suspect were residents of the home and known to one another. Three of the deceased are family members, while the fourth was a tenant who resided in the basement. The suspect was identified as an acquaintance of another family member who also resided at the residence and was not present during the incident.
In a joint statement the Committee of 100 and the Prince William,/Fauquier League of Women Voters said there was an impasse over security concerns and moderator by the campaigns of Rep. Abigail Spanberger and PW Supervisor Yesli Vega.
