$9800 planning grant awarded for new meat processing facility in Fauquier County

Fauquier County Department of Agricultural Development and the Fauquier Livestock Exchange Board of Directors have been awarded a planning grant to aid in the development of a new abattoir in Marshall. The $9,800 grant, from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development (AFID) Fund Planning Grant Program, will help to establish a management structure and strategic plan for the operation of the new meat-processing facility

The 23rd annual Haymarket Day was Sept. 17. The parade through town began at 9:30 a.m. and lasted about an hour; the day wound down at 4 p.m. VA 55 was closed throughout the day as people meandered down the town's main street to visit vendors, ride rides, have a bite to eat and so much more.

Good eats offered on Haymarket Day

When people come to Haymarket Day, they get hungry. Visitors to the 23rd annual Haymarket Day, Sept. 17, will be walking down Washington Street and watching as the parade strolls by from 9:30 until about 11 a.m. They’ll likely see familiar faces of family, neighbors and friends. They’ll also see local restaurants on this path opening their doors to hungry visitors ready to chow down on some good, local eats.

Pantry food donations welcome on Haymarket Day

Streets will be full on Haymarket Day, Sept. 17. Ideally, this will help fill the shelves at the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry, which will be open and taking nonperishable and monetary donations throughout the day Sept. 17.
