Fauquier County Department of Agricultural Development and the Fauquier Livestock Exchange Board of Directors have been awarded a planning grant to aid in the development of a new abattoir in Marshall. The $9,800 grant, from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development (AFID) Fund Planning Grant Program, will help to establish a management structure and strategic plan for the operation of the new meat-processing facility

Prince William County Va. Schools are evaluating new books for mathematics. Until Dec. 21, the public has a chance to review and comment on the proposed textbooks, which cover from kindergarten math to calculus.

Representatives of 335,000 United Methodists of the Virginia Conference will gather in Manassas Oct. 1 to discuss issues of immigration as it relates to their faith. The meeting was called by Bishop Charlene Kammerer.
