Next Level Fitness & Performance in Haymarket is hosting a food drive through Dec. 14 for the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry’s “Holiday Meals in a Basket.” The drive is open to members of the personally focused gym as well as to members of the community. Next Level is offering 50 cents off one of its famous smoothies to people bringing in donations for the food pantry.

Prince William County Department of Public Works' Historic Preservation Division will be conducting an archaeological survey to identify a possible Civil War era military cemetery at the Bristoe Station Battlefield Park near Manassas VA. The public is invited to watch the survey and talk with the archeologists on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Beginning Nov. 19, the U. S. Social Security office on Center Street in Manassas will close to the public at 3 p.m. each day instead of 3:30 p.m. Beginning Jan. 2, the Social Security office will close at noon on Wednesdays.

The Internal Revenue Service has issued a consumer alert about possible scams taking place in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Following major disasters, it’s common for scam artists to impersonate charities to get money or private information from well-intentioned taxpayers. Such fraudulent schemes may involve contact by telephone, social media, email or in-person solicitations.
