Carolina Structural Systems, a manufacturer of custom wood trusses and other structural wood products, will invest $5.5 million to establish a new manufacturing facility near Emporia.. The company will construct a 40,000-square-foot facility in the Greensville County Industrial Park.
Warmer weather traditionally leads to an increase of motorists of all kinds on Virginia roads, especially motorcycles. With that increased traffic comes the increased likelihood of motorcycle and vehicle interactions. Virginia State Police is once again offering its “Ride 2 Save Lives” motorcycle self-assessment courses across the Commonwealth in hopes of making those interactions as safe as possible.

Chanda Woods, an integrated language arts teacher at Newport News Public Schools’ Crittenden Middle School, has been named the 2025 Virginia Regional Teacher of the Year (Region 2) by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). Woods has been a teacher and a mentor for 26 years.
From educational programs to hands-on conservation efforts, the parks invite visitors of all ages to join in honoring our planet and taking action for a sustainable future. A battery-operated scrubber was determined to be cause of a Dale City apartment fire last evening, April 8. The fire displaced two adults and a child, a PWC fire official said.

Students compete locally and nationally in 33 competitions covering STEM, Humanities, Business, Performing, Visual and Culinary Arts. Volunteers are needed as mentors, judges and fundraising.
