GMS Gymnastics in Manassas and the Battlefield Gymnastics Booster Club in Haymarket will host the 4th annual “Flip for the Fight” Invitational gymnastics meet to benefit breast cancer March 16-17, at the NOVA Field House in Chantilly,VA.
More than a thousand girls will be flipping to raise funds for the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, according to a news release. During the March 16-17 weekend, gymnasts set aside their own team colors. All participants unite by wearing one leotard to support and honor “loved ones whom we have lost and survivors who inspire us all,” the news release said.
The Flip for the Fight Invitational was founded in 2009 in honor of Azin Manafi, owner of GMS, who was diagnosed with and beat breast cancer.
According to the news release, GMS has set a fundraising goal of more than $15,000, and is hard at work raising the funds along with the Battlefield Gymnastics Booster Club. There will be silent auctions of giftbaskets that the GMS team families have put together, as well as raffles, and sales of baked goods, other foods and miscellaneous items at the March 16-17 competitions.
